Some time ago I did a post on Civil Rights where I briefly examined how far the Civil Rights movement has strayed from Dr. King’s time. Now I would like to focus on something that Dr. King spoke about and dare I say fought and died for. That would be equal justice. This idea of equal justice has been replaced with the socialistic ideal of Social Justice. Make no mistake Social Justice is by all accounts and practices socialism. Where as equal justice does not play favorites based upon BS hyphenations or imagined class stereotypes.
From what I have read about the late Dr. King it seems to me that what is being spouted now by the “poverty pimps” of the world, Ethnic activist groups, and black liberation theologists would make him cringe and say “this is not what I was fighting for.”
From my observations the civil rights movement has become more of a hatred of success and socialist “he has one I deserve one too!” movement than a desire for equal justice and equal rights. I say that because you don’t see people anymore fighting for the right to make their own decisions and take responsibility for their own lives by having the equal opportunity to work hard and succeed. It seems to have turned more into a big ethnic pissing contest that does more damage to the dream of equality than to help it. Case in point The “Reverend” Jessy Jackson who by a lot of peoples’ misunderstanding is a fervent supporter of equal rights. I say misunderstanding because 5 minutes with Google will show the opposite. Do you think that if someone really wanted equal rights for all he would refer to parts of New York as Hymie town or make ludicrous statements like, “God gave you your skin color so why not use it to your advantage.”
That doesn’t sound like equality to me that sounds like a victim complex imagining itself to be the greater of equals. If someone wants equality great I will happily treat them with equality but if anybody – White, Black, Hispanic, Retarded or otherwise wants special treatment based upon a religious ideology or ethnic identity, not only will I not treat them as an equal but purposefully treat them as a lesser person.
Social Justice which is being preached constantly by groups like CAIR, NAACP, La Raza, and the lone “poverty pimps” is not justice at all. Its an idea to drag everyone to the same level no matter how hard a person works and give special concessions for perceived under-represented minority groups. Basically prettied up Socialism. A good analogy for it would be equal bread for unequal work. But what about Equal Justice?
Equal Justice which is what was being preached 50 years ago is just that: an equal chance to pursue wealth and happiness on an equal footing with your neighbor. What I mean by that is while your neighbor may be more prosperous than you, you and your neighbor would have equal opportunity to be successful. It does not mean penalize and force your neighbor to subsidize you because he worked hard for his success.
While equal justice is a noble dream and social justice has proven time and time again to be detrimental, I fear that we may never see equal justice as long as people keep giving credence to whiny activist groups that make their donations off of peddling the “I am a victim give me a pony” mentality.
Finally stand on your own two feet and take responsibility for your own actions and let your neighbor do the same. Because when you boil it down, Social Justice is nothing more than the jealousy of the lazy under the guise of a better society.
Until Next Time: Stand on your own two feet and you will have a solid base.
