American Children Need To Be Adopted Too.

Over the years there has been an increasing rate of foreign based adoptions by American families. Contrary to popular belief most of those children were not adopted by Angelina Jolie or Madonna. Preliminary fiscal year 2008 Estimates as of October 2009 state that there were 463,000 children in foster care in the U.S. Yup lots of adoptable children. There were 273,000 children that entered the foster care system all together during that year with 123,000 children waiting to be adopted. Now that may not sound like many but considering that there were only 55,000 children adopted in 2008 that leaves 68,000 children waiting to be adopted at the beginning of 2009. The reason I am using 2008 stats is because the 2009 stats will not be out till somewhere around October of 2010. They have the 2009 statistics for overseas adoption but without the rest of the data for 2009 I will not be focusing on last year but for your knowledge the number of overseas adoptions in 2009 was 12,753.

I know what you are thinking – well if 55,000 were adopted and leaving only 68,000 surely those children will have been adopted in 2009. Some may have been but with an average of 250,000 children entering the foster care system per year and only about 50% of those children being reunified with their parents that still leaves a surplus 95,000 children who need to be cared for each year. Even if you remove the 55,000 that is still 40,000 children that need homes and families here in the U.S.

What is the point of this you might be asking? I wanted to show the number of children in the United States that need loving families since it has been ever popular to grab a kid from a third world country instead of our own. In the same year 2008, American families adopted 17,475 children from other countries. Wonder how many of the 17,475 of the American children that weren’t adopted because of this would have liked to have had a stable loving home.

Politicaly Incorrect Humor in Celebrities Adoption?

This whole bit about celebrities adopting is getting out of hand I am tired of hearing about Madonna and Angelina Jolie. We get it already it seems like every week one of them is flying to some third world country to pick out a new kid. I hope this doesn’t catch on too much otherwise instead of poodles or chawawas hanging out of anoyingly diconnected and self important hollywood types handbags we will start to see children from third world countries carried around like accessories to show how PC these jokers are. I mean seriously whats next are they going to change international addoption policies to the point that before anyone else gets to adopt one that these celebrities get first dibs. It is so out of hand that celebrities such as Salma Hayek are breast feeding children in Sierra Leone talk about a mission of hope. At what point do they get cut off? Do they just get to go from country to country until they have the whole set? Or will there come a time when people finaly say “hey guess what we dont care how many you collect”. oh well as long as they can continue to pretend that they really are that important let um. everyone I know collects cards or something along that line, we never collected children from third world nations. at this rate what is the next fad going to be adopt a homeless person.
