Food Banks For dogs

From what I have read the Animal Rescue Foundation of Amsterdam is setting up a food bank for pets so that owners who fall on hard times can still feed their dogs and cats. Asked if there was a risk that owners themselves might eat the food, Animal Rescue’s Jack de Jongh told the newspaper Parool: “If they do, it won’t kill them.” This is amazing to me that people eating the dog food would be a concern. Who cares if the animals are kind enough to share their food with their owners. The Animal Rescue Foundation is trying to do a good deed by allowing people who have lost their jobs to be able to give their animals sustenance. This will also help keep the animals out of shelters. I am not sure how it works in Amsterdam but where I am from you have to prove residence in the area that the food bank is located does that mean they check the tags of the dogs to make sure they live in the neighborhood or will they all be scanned for chips to make sure that they are not abusing the food bank process and visiting multiple food banks potentially depriving starving dogs and cats in those neighborhoods.
